Caroline van der Plas, the leader of the BBB, intends to turn down the premiership if her party wins the majority in the upcoming Lower House elections. She says her decision is influenced mainly by her fear of flying, her unwillingness to participate in the international political arena and her passion for her current work in the House of Representatives.
This she disclosed in an interview with The Telegraph.
Before she leaves on a car vacation next Sunday, Van der Plas aims to present a candidate for the premiership on behalf of BBB. According to her, this person, with whom the BBB's top leadership consulted extensively last week, has "international experience." Van der Plas states, "If this person says 'yes,' my decision is simple: then I will not become prime minister."
Neat clothes
Van der Plas herself does not want to become prime minister for two main reasons. First, she feels it is too great an "attack on my private life." Recently, for example, she went on a nice trip to Ameland where she spoke at length with people. According to her, that is no longer possible as prime minister. "Then you get dropped off by car and you can talk to someone for two minutes," said the BBB'er.
The second reason is that she has he-all "no appetite" for summits with other leaders. "With all due respect to those people - and there's nothing wrong with my English - but I don't feel like having to put on fancy clothes and fly around the world. Then I have to wear heels, when I can't walk in heels at all. It all gets to me a little bit, to be honest," Van der Plas said.
Of course, that's a bit of an odd reason. Because that you should indeed consult with others is obvious. But the idea that you have to wear "high heels" is sheer nonsense. Angela Merkel has shown that as a female leader you can be dressed as soberly as you like - as long as you make that really your own style. Van der Plas can actually walk the streets as prime minister just as she does now. All she has to do then is to own that style and not be ashamed of it. Push it just hard. If she does that, then such a counter-style might actually work very well.
In short, it seems that Van der Plas actually has some other reasons. For example, that she just doesn't think herself good enough. But that she doesn't want to say so. Or, and this is also very possible, her fear of flying. Because she says she really suffers from that. It sounds crazy, but these kinds of phobias can really have a huge impact on a person; they can really sabotage their own career because of it.
(Article continues below this call) These will be the most important elections of our lives! The Daily Standard will therefore go into the campaign hard and fast, as you would expect from us. We will unmask the party and media cartel and give politicians who don't get any room in the cartel the opportunity to reach our readers. But we need your help! Support us! Donate now via BackMe and help DDS to be a true alternative media channel so that we go hard into the campaign.
Anyway, so now we have to wait for the "prime ministerial candidate" of the BoerBurger Movement. It will not be Van der Plas himself, but the candidate in question - who will be number two on the list - is said to have "international experience." It will almost certainly be a statesman or stateswoman whose name is recognized in every household.
Who will it be? Spann0nd hear!
