FVD Zoetermeer comes out in opposition to task order for housing status holders: ''We are not an execution desk for the state!''

| by Mark Jongeneel

FVD Zoetermeer has taken up the fight against the government's task order to make houses available for status holders. The local group is determined to stand up for the interests of Zoetermeer residents and is calling for a review of the tasking.

With a task order of as many as 360 status holders, not including post-arrivals and Ukrainians, there is an unrealistic pressure on the available housing stock. Although the alderman speaks of a total of 1150 social housing units available, this is accompanied by waiting lists of 6 to 8 years without a task order. It is clear that additional construction is already needed to meet demand, but these additional construction efforts lag behind the increase in population. This is a disregard for Zoetermeer's own residents.

''The situation becomes even more dire when we look at family reunification and the arrival of Ukrainian refugees, which are disregarded by the alderman. This means that the real impact of the tasking is even more serious than the college would have us believe. It is clear that the government's tasking is not feasible and must therefore be sent back to The Hague.'' says group chairman Marco van den Boomgaard to DDS.

FVD Zoetermeer opposes the municipality acting as the execution desk for the state. The task of housing status holders is simply unworkable and must be reversed immediately. It is time for the residents of Zoetermeer to be given priority for vacant housing within our city.

Group chairman Marco van den Boomgaard emphasizes the importance of protecting the interests of our own residents. It is unacceptable that the municipality of Zoetermeer has to foot the bill for a task that is out of proportion and endangers the livability of the city. It is high time that the voice of the residents is heard and that the policy regarding the housing of status holders is reviewed.
